AI Your Trip ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your data when you use our Service. By using AI Your Trip, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Account information: name, username, email address, phone number, password
  • Trip preferences: destinations, travel dates, budget, accommodation type
  • Payment information (processed securely by Stripe or PayPal — we do not store card details)

Information collected automatically:

  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, search queries
  • Device information: browser type, operating system, IP address
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Generate personalised trip itineraries and travel recommendations
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, payment receipts)
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Analyse usage trends to improve user experience

4. AI Services and Third Parties

AI Your Trip uses OpenAI (the company behind ChatGPT) to generate trip itineraries and respond to AI chat messages. When you use any AI feature, we transmit the following data to OpenAI:

  • Trip details you enter (destination, dates, budget, travel style, number of travelers)
  • Messages you type in the AI chat or trip planner
  • Trip-related context needed to answer your question (for example: destination, day number, or selected activity)

We do not send your name, email address, phone number, password, or payment information to OpenAI. Data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections. OpenAI processes this data on our behalf and, by default, does not use API data to train their models. OpenAI's handling of this data is governed by their own privacy policy: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy/.

On our mobile apps, the first time you use an AI feature the app will ask for your explicit consent before any data is sent to OpenAI. You can revoke this consent at any time from Settings → Privacy Policy → AI Data Sharing. On the web, you can stop using AI features at any time by signing out or deleting your account.

5. Other Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal data. Beyond OpenAI (covered above), we share information with these service providers strictly to deliver the Service:

  • Payments: Stripe, PayPal, Apple (App Store In-App Purchases) — we do not store card details
  • Communications: Twilio (SMS verification codes), Resend (transactional email)
  • Maps and places: Google Maps, Google Places, Google OAuth, Apple (Sign in with Apple)
  • Travel data: Flight and hotel search providers (your search criteria such as origin, destination, and dates)
  • Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., billing records).

7. Cookies

We use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for authentication and security (HttpOnly, Secure). You cannot opt out of these.
  • Analytics cookies: Help us understand how the Service is used. You can opt out via our cookie consent banner.

8. Your Rights

  • Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")

10. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us immediately.

11. International Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a notice on the Service. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
